Steel automatic strapping machine is a kind of high-tech products which is combined with electronic, hydraulic,mechanical, control, and it is also an important equipment in packaging products. It can be automatically bundle thesteel product, so the transportation and storage of the steel become easier. At present, there is still a gap betweendeveloped countries and our country in the development and research of strapping machine and the strapping machinein our country generally has large volume, complicated structure, high production cost and is not suitable for thetransport and mass production defects, resulting in strapping equipment which are used in most domestic enterprisesare imported. So how to make the strapping machine had a lightweight is the key point of this research.To launch our research on strapping machine lightweight, it used3D modeling software and Finite ElementAnalysis Software. Traditional engineering calculations which utilize analogy design methods usually choose a largerstructure size than needed to guarantee the machines’ stability when they calculate the stiffness and strength ofstrapping machines, and these calculations will make machines bulky. So how to make the machine more lightweight isour research’s emphasis.First, analysed the force conditions of each key component of strapping machine, then carried out a loadcalculation of these key component. According to the relevant knowledge of theoretical mechanics and materialmechanics, it simplify the strapping machine, then improve and design the key components. Determine the storagemechanism mounted on the baling wire body chassis, drive system, the guide slot, up and down arms, twisting pliersand cutting device.Second, since the body of the strapping machine is the foundation parts, and all key components are installed onthe box body, so the study of making the strapping machine is focused on the lightweight design of body. In this study,when it implement the lightweight design, it establish geometric model of3D software first, and then import it in finiteelement analysis software, furthermore we select the appropriate cell type rallied baler box mesh through finite elementanalysis and calculation of the model before identifying lightweight binding machine Cabinet.Finally, it simulate assembly of new part which is improved or newly designed to the body of strapping machinefollowing the finite element simulation. Verifies whether the work of steel strapping tasks can be completed.
