Analysing the noise caused by fuel sloshing in vehicles’ tank hasbecome one of the research subjects of great concern in recent years. Thesloshing noise was mostly predicted indirectly by CAE simulation of fuelsloshing with using fluid dynamic parameters. Few studies concerned on theoptimization of experimental techniques in fuel tank bench tests and vehicleexperiments. This study would investigate the interference factors of benchtest and build links between bench and vehicles experimentA signal processing method was proposed to remove the influence of thebench vibration on the noise experiment. By using the method of multipliedinput/single output system and singular value analysis, the independentsound sources and the typical vibration test points were identified. Thepartial coherence of typical vibration and noise signals were calculated byusing coherence analysis methods. The fuel tank sloshing noise wasseparated from combined signals of bench and tank. Based on the theoremof momentum and linear regression model, the A-weighted sound pressurelevel correction curve was obtained to quickly correct the result of bench test.To establish the matching connection of bench test and vehicleexperiment, an optimization of the vehicles experiment and analysis methodwas proposed in this paper. By analyzing the coherence function and thetransfer function of the fuel tank surface acceleration signals and vehicles’interior sloshing noise, the method of using transfer function to build thelink between acceleration and sound was proposed. With this method, thesloshing noise in vehicle can be predicted in bench test stage to improve theefficiency of fuel tank design and development. The effectiveness of thismethod was verified by carrying out the same type of tank in bench andvehicle experiment. As is showed in the research, the way of bench vibration elimination inbench test is efficient and applicable. The transfer function analysis methodcan predict the fuel sloshing noise in vehicles in the stage of bench testeffectively.
