A linear motor drive apparatus can convert electrical energy directly into linear motionof the mechanical energy without any gearing for intermediate conversion. Comparedwith the rotary motor, the linear motor greatly improves the rapid response capability offeed system and the movement precision.It has broad application prospects in varioushigh-speed, precision machining equipment. Although the linear motor and rotary motorhave the same working principle, they have great differences in performance. Linear motorhas a unique “end effect ".Because the distortion of magnetic field in the ends of the motoraffects the integrity of the traveling magnetic field, the loss of linear motor increases andthe thrust is reduced, which affects the performance of the motor. Since the structuralcharacteristics of the linear motor,“edge effect” is inevitable.On the market, theperformance requirements for high control accuracy and high repeat accuracy of linearmotor are more and more urgent. Therefore, starting from the basic magnetic fieldanalysis of linear motor, studying the impact of end effect on motor performance andexploring methods to improve the precision of motor control have great theoretical andpractical significance.The center content of this paper is the end effect is the end effect and the object of thestudy is permanent magnet synchronous linear motor. In this paper, the variation ofmagnetic field distribution and the end effect on the electromagnetic force when the platetype linear motor running were analyzed in detail. From the distribution of air gap, thecogging and the edge switching characteristics of the linear motor, the electromagnetic of itwas analyzed and the thrust fluctuation of it was evaluated. We use Ansoft software forfinite element analysis to establish the2D,3D models of the motor. Based on theElectromagnetic theory analysis, the use of transient, static solution method, we calculatephase current of the motor under steady-state operating conditions, flux and dynamic torquecurve, etc. According to the electromagnetic simulation results, analyze and verify theimpact of the edge effect on the stability of the linear motor control system.In order to improve the control performance of the linear motor and theelectromagnetic force density, the calculation and analysis of finite element analysismethod were applied to the motor electromagnetic field and electromagnetic force of linearmotor. Then we present a lateral excitation embedded structure of the improved method.Simulation experiment results show that, based on the Ansoft software, the structure canmake the electromagnetic thrust linear motor more stable, and the result shows that thestructure can greatly increase the electromagnetic force density of the linear motor.
