Power system dispatching is a very important part of power systemoperation. Unit commitment is the core of electric power system. Cuckoosearch (CS) algorithm is a new type of intelligent optimization algorithm,and the idea is derived from cuckoo bird’s nest parasitic breeding. Theimprovement of CS algorithm will be put forward to solve the traditionalelectric power dispatching. The unit commitment problems which includewind power are should also be taken into consideration. This paper mainlyincludes four aspects as follows:First of all, the improved CS algorithm, standard PSO algorithm andthe standard CS algorithm are compared via sets of test function. The resultshows that the improved CS algorithm can obtain better solution. It verifiesthe validity of the improved CS algorithm.Secondly, the unit commitment models are established. The improvedCS algorithm, which is previously proposed, can be applied to solve the unitcommitment. The result will be analyzed through comparing differentalgorithm.In addition, the randomness of wind speed can lead to the fluctuation ofwind power. Based on the influence of large-scale wind power, the powersystem dispatching model, which incorporates the wind farms is built. Theobjective function includes the conventional generator cost, carbon dioxideemissions and sulfur dioxide emissions. The cuckoo search algorithm isapplied to solve the problem.Finally, on the basis of the smart grid scheduling system, according tothe power grid dispatching strategy in this paper, software interface of power grid dispatching is designed.
