After more than60years, especially the development of construction of hydropowerstation in China has formed a group of large-scale hydropower station which inter the basinor cross the regional in the past30years. The joint optimization scheduling of cascadehydropower station groups can not only to make full use of the hydrological stationcapacity compensation, compensation and power compensation benefits, improve theeconomic benefits of overall hydropower station group, but also to give an importantguarantee for the safety of flood control, power system stability and energy conservationand other social benefits. Therefore, the optimization scheduling of hydropower stationshave been paid great attention.The scheduling problem of cascade hydropower stations in fact is a highly nonlinearmathematical programming problem, and with the increase of the scale of the cascade, thesolution space is extremely large and irregular, which gives the optimal dispatching ofcascade reservoirs calculation a huge obstacle. In this paper, aiming at the practicalproblems in reservoir operation, the main research contents are as follows:(1)The people put forward higher requirements for the reservoir operationmanagement and application, to deal with the challenges, we must improve the processingand storage capacity of computer. By taking full advantage of distributed parallel cloudcomputing technology, combined with the specific use of hydropower station dispatchsystem, build a scheduling system based on Microsoft Azure cloud computing to deal withthe current demand.(2)The concept of cloud computing is produced after parallel computing, cloudcomputing is the development of parallel computing, they have similarities in manyaspects. Explore the potential parallelism of reservoir operation computing, means thatwhen parallel hardwares are available, the program will run faster. This paper was aboutparallel Progressive Optimality Algorithm (POA) on Microsoft Azure cloud computingfully to take advantage of elastic computing resources of the cloud computing.(3)Based on.NET parallel expansion and progressive optimization algorithm, takingZagunao river basin three cascaded hydropower station as an example, move the programto the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, and verify the effectiveness of the algorithm.According to the calculation example shows that, after using the parallel optimization algorithm, the economic benefits of cascade hydropower stations can beimproved, and at the same time, the parallel algorithm can improve the calculation speed,the future of cloud computing in the hydropower station dispatching application field isvery wide. This paper conducts a prospective exploration based on cloud computing,parallel computing and other new technology applied in the field of reservoir operation.There are some application value and practical significance.
