On November,2012,The91th session of the Maritime Safety Committee pass anew resolution of Code on noise levels on board ships which will come into force onJuly1,2014. The MSC.91resolution propose a noise mandatory requirement for shipsof more than1600gross ton.Compared with A.468(Ⅻ),The new standard is morestrict. In order to increase comfort level in living area. Most of cabins are reduced by5dB for ships of more than10000gross ton. At the beginning of the ship design, ourcountry ought to take cabin acoustic design into account. This paper introduces the basic conception of ship noise. The research results ofvibration noise prediction and control problem are summarized and analyzed at homeand abroad at the same time. In order to investigate the influence of the new standardof our country, the domestic and overseas noise rules is compared and the meansshould be taken when we dealing with the new standards. Testing results whichcombined with SEA method is corrected to predict vibration and noise level.According to the statistical energy analysis method, a SEA model of the steelaluminum mixed ship is established and discussed some factors that affect the noiseprediction result. Mainly from the cabin layout, noise source, noise transmission andreceiver, the ship noise control method is briefly introduced. Statistical energyanalysis method is applied to study the effect of damping location on cabin noise aswell as damping thickness and fireproofing materials combined with damping. Forthe cabins’ noise reasons, the noise reduction measures are proposed. The study finds that, some factors such as fore peak has little influence on theresult of the cabin noise prediction, but the ship contents materials is important whiledoing research on noise prediction.Refractories combines and damping can reduce thecabin noise.
