Three-axis rotary table plays important roles in the area of science research andindustry engineering,as a crucial device of testing and simulating. According to thedemand for a high precision three-axis rotary table to calibrate and to test the TBMorientation measure system, a high precision three-axis rotary table has been developed. The error modeling approach based on multi-body system was introduced. And thencombining the structure features with the topology model of the multi-body system, amathematical model of the error in three-axis rotary table including pointing error andposition error was built. At last, through simulation, the impact on the pointing accuracyand position accuracy had been analyzed in detail, which laying solid foundation foraccuracy design, error distribution and error compensation of the three-axis rotary table.Based on the analysis of the functional requirement of the three-axis rotary table, alist of the main technical components was made. Thus a detailed introduction of theoverall design was given, including the mechanical design, the selection of maincomponent, the design and building of control system. Then a static analysis ofmechanism was processed on the base of ANSYS Workbench, especially three keycomponents was processed with strength and stiffness analysis. An overall servo control solution with a motion control model was proposed, thenthe main components and control parts of the system were introduced. The control systememployed an open architecture based on “open PC+PMAC control card”, the detailedconstruction and parameters tuning procedure was elaborated. Based on VC++and theAPI interface of control card, a complicated control software was developed.
