Rationalism Of Contemporary Chinese Architectural Practice

In this disquisition,rationalism in construction sector is defined as rationallogical approach which follows common scientific objective law, opposes falsedesign and decoration, emphasizing the rational design of architecturalauthenticity.Focusing on contemporary rationalist architectural creation in China isfrom the author’s thinking of contemporary status of domestic construction andobservation and personal practice. Without doubt, today’s scientific and technologicaldevelopment profoundly impacts on the public’s aesthetic psychological and behavior,at the same time,the rational design approach is in the process of any architecturalpractice. In addition, it has not been clearly analysed and understood that rationalismin contemporary architecture creation in China, therefore, the study of the topic isparticularly necessary.Firstly, the disquisition analyses the origin and development of rationalistideology, and then explains causes of popularity of the rationalism in contemporaryChina. Based on these, combined with the large number of cases of domesticarchitecture,it expounds four performance of contemporary architectural rationalism:the pursuit of rationalism minimalist architectural creation; the concern of technicalauthenticity the reasoning of functional logical, the demand of economic rationality.Finally, the disquisition states the existing problems and predicts the trends ofrationalist architecture. By means of the disquisition，it hopes to improve thetheoretical achievements of contemporary architectural design and guide our futuralcreative practice.
