Piles can be divided into the active pile and the passive pile. The piles which bearthe external loads directly and transfer the stress to the soil can be called the activepile; Accordingly, another piles which are affected by the soil movements due tosurcharge loading can be called the passive pile. There are kinds of passive piles inmany engineering practice cases, such as anti-slide piles, the piles nearby excavationoperations, the piles in dock, and so on.The problem about the active pile has been studied widely. But the relatedtheories, mechanisms and methods of calculation of the passive pile have not beenstudied clearly. In this paper, the research on the soil-pile interaction behaviorsubjected to long-term repeated surcharge loading is analyzed by the finite elementmethod. Then a program used to study the behavior of passive piles due to surchargeloading is compiled by Fortran. Some main works are described as follows:Firstly, some useful conclusions of recent years about the passive pile undergoing soil lateral movement is summarized, including field tests, theory methods andnumerical analysis, and a detailed description of the Carter model.Secondly, the research on the soil-pile interaction subjected to long-term repeatedsurcharge loading has been done by Carter model of CRISP2D. The behavior of thesoil-pile interaction under repeated surcharge loading is explored by observing thehorizontal displacement, deformation, settlement, pore water pressure and pilebending moments at different moments during surcharge loading. Then, sum up thefactors which can affect the soil-pile interaction by changing the different conditions, and find how the factors work.. It is found that the soil under repeated surchargeloading is different from the soil under the static load in the field of stress and strainperformance. There is an unrecoverable residual strain after each process of surchargeloading, accompanied the accumulation of excess pore water pressure and dissipation. The settlements and displacements will decrease because of the pile shadowing effect. Then, based on the elastic foundation beam theory, a program which can be used to calculate the passive pile response under the surcharge loading is compiled byFortran. Comparing the example and the finite element calculation results, theprogram for the calculation and back analysis capabilities are both feasible. Finally, summarize the work done in the thesis and get some conclusions on theissues to prospect the amendatory problems and methods.
