As an important part of power system, transmission and distribution lines play animportant role in transmission of power energy. Whether transmission and distribution linescan reliably work directly influences power system’s safety. Early2008, in southern China,large-scale areas have suffered the worst continuous low-temperature freezing rain and snowweather since records began. In such areas, the power grid, particularly transmission anddistribution lines at all voltage levels, suffered significant damage, resulting in large-scaletower collapse and disconnection. The author summered up the main reason why the towerswere damaged in this ice disaster,by on-site surveys, data collection, mathematical statisticsand programming methods in the case introduction of transmission and distribution linesdamage at different voltage level. The authors analyzed that the ice disaster exposed theproblems of previous transmission and distribution lines in all aspects, and proposedcorresponding recommendations on measures to defense. The paper is of reference value forthe key issues to minimize the loss of transmission and distribution lines in future icedisasters. |
