The10kV distribution line is an important part of power system, many powerlines in actual operation are overhead line,with low cost and poor reliability.It willeasily be affected by the bad weather and broke by the man-made sabotage. Becausethe powered radius of the many10kV distribution lines are large, it will cause largerange and long time without electricity when the fault happens,and need powerworkers to go to the scene and find out the fault lines by using the traditional methodsof subsection, paragraph-by-paragraph and tower-by-tower,which will waste a lot oflabour and materials.With the electronic technology, communication technology and computernetwork technology used extensively in the power distribution line, monitor the lineworking condition and fault self-diagnose have became the development trend in theautomation power system. By analysis the character of the wireless channels and thecomparison the character of several wireless communication technology, the subjectrealizes the fault monitoring and alarming on the high voltage transmission line byusing the fault detection technology, low power wireless communication technologyand GPRS technology, and puts forward the corresponding wireless transmissionnetwork topologies according to the characteristic of the high voltage line’s actualerction and its character of the network topology. The system sends the real-timeworking information monitored by the fault indicator to the power monitoring host inthe method of wireless transmission.The wireless transmission is divided into thelongitudinal transmission from the collection node on the line to the relay node on theground and the horizontal transmission from the the relay node to the last relaynode(concentrating node).The part of the longitudinal transmission uses thePIC16F690microcontroller and the CC2500wireless radio frequency chip to transmitthe line woking information form the collection node to the relay node. The part of thehorizontal transmission uses the CC1110wireless radio frequency chip embedded the51kernel to forward the line woking information to the concentrating node by therelay nodes. The concentrating node uses the GPRS to transimit the working information to the power monitor host.By testing the each module in the system, it approves that the distance and thereliability of the communication, the power of the each node and so on all satisfy thethe design objective.When the lines work normally, the system can transmit the lineworking information to the power monitoring host in the wireless transmission way inreal time and quickly. Once the fault happers,the monitoring center’s workers caninquire, statistics and analysis the report data by the master station software, anddetermine the fault occurred segment, then guide the power maintenance persons tofind the fault place quickly and accurately, thus it improves the work efficiency andreduces the labor intensity of workers.
