| Spallation target is an important part of the accelerator drivensystem(ADS). As the coupling unit of the incident proton beam and thesubcritical core, the spallation target maintains the security and stability ofthe system. Liquid windowless spallation target is a hotspot.This paper analyzes the result of drop liquid windowless spallationtarget numerical simulation and visualization experiment, indicates theshortcomings. It tears seriously when there’s a shorter length of the freesurface. A longer length of free surface leads to a steady interface, butvortex flow exists under the surface and causes bad effect on heatremoving.A new kind of spallation target called the upward rotation windowless spallation target is proposed, in which the liquid enters intothe channel from the bottom, passes through a impeller and then rotatesupward, forms a free surface at the exit. This paper mainly includes thefollowing points(1)It introduces the structure design of the target. Through acomparison of dimensionless parameter, it is proved that water undernormal pressure and temperature can be used to simulate the hydraulicsbehavior of LBE under400degree. Water under NPT is used innumerical models to explore the appropriate geometry size. Then animproved model is set up to study the influence of impeller blade angleand inlet velocity on free surface.(2)An experimental section is built up to explore the influence ofimpeller blade angle and inlet velocity on free surface, and to make acomparison between numerical results and experimental results. Aprioritization scheme about experiment and simulation is proposed afterthe analysis of differences between the two results.(3)Liquid LBE is used in the same numerical model to gain a resultwhich can be compared with the result of water simulation. It is provedthat we can use water instead of liquid LBE to go on simulation andexperiment. This paper is aimed at proposing a new kind of spallation targetwhich is different from the drop windowless spallation target. Thefeasibility of the target is improved through numerical simulation andwater experiment. Besides, the main controlling factor and method isfound out to lay the foundation of the follow-up study. |
