The development and utilization of renewable energy is paid more andmore attention by all countries in the world, research results in the field arealso constantly updating. At present, the traditional methods for researchare off-line simulation and physical experiment. The former uses off-linesimulation software platform such as Matlab/Simulink and Pscad/EMTDC.While the latter needs to construct the physical platform of the shrinkageratio or the same size.But because the shortcomings of the off-linesimulation is time-consuming and limited model accuracy,also physicaltests have high cost,long construction period and othershortcomings,advanced experimental technique as the representativeof real-time hybrid simulation obtained the fast development.This article isbased on the project: research and development of the digital physicalhybrid simulation platform about Chongming Island smart grid.Inthispaper,RTDS(real time digital simulator) is used to construct the real-timehardware in the loop simulation system of the renewable energy aboutChongming Island smart grid.This paper firstly introduces the current development of renewableclean energy, puts forward the necessity and effectiveness of the vigorousdevelopment of renewable energy. According to the renewableenergy system of Chongming island smart grid, this paper introduces thebasic theory and knowledge of doubly fed wind power systemand Li battery energy storage system, also it illustrates and explains theirrunning mechanism. Then according to the hardware equipment introduced in the real-time hardware in the loop simulation platform thispaper focuses on the hardware and software characteristics aboutRTDS, distributed converter controller and main controller PLC. Based onthe electrical characteristics and methods of data interactionabout the three,this paper designs the feasible scheme of thereal-time hardware in the loop simulation platform.And by the use of theplatform,system of the doubly fed wind turbine and control model ofwind storage coordination is simulated and verificated.At last accordingto Chongming Island smart grid architecture and the distribution ofrenewable energy systems,use RTDS to simulate the global system ofChongming island,so as to realize the real-time simulation research ongrid-connected and islanded operation.
