With the development of economic and improvement of people’s living standard, moreand more families of ordinary people have their own cars. Cars can bring convenience butalso bring serious consequences to many families and society. Traffic accidents, especiallyserious accidents, not only lead to economic loss, but also bring death to families. As aresult, any method to avoid or alleviate the accident should get high priority.Chain collision in freeway is one of the heaviest accidents. However, if an alert is sentto the following car from the first car which have happened an accident, drivers in thefollowing cars will pay more attention and take measures in advance, which can alleviateseverity lead to collision. To realize this function, many devices are needed, such ascollision detection device, GPS positioning device, wireless communication device andinternet of vehicles as well. Intelligent mobile phones with highly open Android system notonly have sensors which can detect collision but also has GPS positioning module andwireless communication module. Besides, the mobile phone is carried regularly by the user,the acceleration pattern can deliver information related to pattern of driving activities thecar is engaged in. Based on these conditions, this paper puts forward the identificationsystem of the freeway traffic incident. The main functions of the system is to collect data,analyze data and then transmit signal to alarm drivers. When mobile phones go into thesection, they make a temporary connection with other mobile phones and center server inthe same section. At the same time, acceleration sensors works, they collect data in realtime and Android system preserve and process the data. This paper presents the thresholdalgorithm based on time window and speed. If the acceleration is too large, the events willbe defined as serious collision, and the system will send alarm to following cars anddistress signal as well. If value of acceleration is between value when there is a seriouscollision and when cars run normally, than speed parameter is introduced. If car is judged asa light collision in this range, only alert is needed. By debugging, this system can timelysend alarm in abnormal situation, and the signal delay is within the1second, whichachieved good experimental results. This system shows that the intelligent mobile phoneswith high feasibility and practicality in the application of intelligent transportation, and hasbroad prospects.
