Amphibious vehicle plays an irreplaceable role in a particular geographical environment.Due to the unique characteristics of the amphibious vehicle, it is important for national defenseto study amphibious vehicle. For the sake of safe navigation, high-speed amphibious vehicleshould keep excellent dynamic characteristic. Towing trial and numerical simulation are forresearching dynamic characteristic of amphibious vehicle. Under the stable condition, dragreduction and shape optimization of amphibious vehicle are discussed by using numericalsimulation. The results are not precise because the amphibious vehicles sailing on sea heaveand pitch. In this paper, a simulation method for the hydrodynamic characteristics ofamphibious vehicles is built, which is bases on dynamic mesh model and fluid-structureinteraction. Dynamic characteristics of a wheel amphibious vehicle is analyzed by thesimulation method and compared with results of towing trial. The key researchingcan be summarized as follows:First, a numerical method basing on dynamic mesh for amphibious vehicle wasestablished in water sailing. The study includes the establishment of model, independentscientific validation mesh by comparing static and dynamic mesh method, the selection ofmultiphase flow model, turbulence model and the flow field numerical algorithm.Second, the mathematical model of amphibious vehicle has been established. Through thevehicle vibration of fluid-structure coupling and the secondary development of the Fortranlanguage ANSYS-CFX-based programs, it is a coupling calculation by contacting the Fortranlanguage and CFD software. An analysis method combining a fluid-structure interaction withmatching body vibration response of the structure is built when two freedom movement of theamphibious vehicle navigation are heaving and pitching.Last, navigating characteristics of the wheel amphibious vehicle are discussed, includingnavigating pose, force characteristics, floating state, the flow field, the resistancecharacteristics and power characteristics. The process of navigating pose and forcecharacteristics at different speeds are analyzed. The floating state and the flow field are studied.The results between numerical simulation and experiments are consistent. The method inpaper is effective in the numerical simulation of the amphibious vehicle.
