Ricochet, slippage and ballistic deflection issue have been focused of obliquepenetration studies. For oblique penetration of metallic targets by low-speed, the role of thelow-speed conditions make the influence of crater and the effect of free surface of targethave more significant. Therefore, this dissertation intends to research the ballisticmechanism of oblique penetration on metal target by low-speed projectiles. The master parameters of affecting ballistic characteristics of oblique penetration andthe similar guidelines which makes penetration depth, overload and ballistic deflectionangle similar was obtained by the dimensional analysis, and the similar conditions ofgeometric similarity simulation and dissimilar material modeling was also gained. Theresearch on oblique penetration process of metallic targets by projectile was carried out,Based on the feasibility of simulation, the curve versus time of penetration depth, overloadand ballistic deflection angle; the relevance of ballistic characteristic quantities of obliquepenetration, ballistic deflection angle is directly reflected in the cumulative total of moment, which has the same trend, and angular of ballistic deflection is directly reflected in themoment, which has the same trend.By the simulation study of oblique penetration on metal target under differentconditions, the influence law of oblique penetration ballistic by velocity, impact angle andattack angle; Based on similar criteria and simulation data, the empirical formula ofballistic deflection angle which contains different projectile-target conditions was obtained; It was obtained that the most influential factor of ballistic deflection angle is attack angle, and then followed is velocity, attack angle by orthogonal test..Based on the simulation study of oblique penetration on metal target under differentshapes and materials, the slimmer noses of projectile is, the greater penetration depth is, thetruncated nose is better than tipped-oval nose on ballistic deflection angle, for thetipped-oval nose projectile, the larger geometry function of projectile is, the smallerballistic deflection angle is, for the truncated nose projectile, the larger geometry functionof projectile is, the larger ballistic deflection angle is; the profiled head projectile is betterthan the tipped-oval nose projectile on the deeper penetration depth and larger ballisticdeflection angle in the same quality; The projectile with additional structure can formpositive effect on the penetration ballistic by changing the moment of oblique penetration. The similar laws of dissimilar material modeling and the ballistic characteristics of oblique penetration on metal target by low-speed projectiles was studied by theexperimental research on ballistic of oblique penetration. Combination of the theoreticaland simulation results, under similar conditions the same aluminum target penetrated bysteel projectile and aluminum projectile of low-speed, and the high-strength steel materialpenetration satisfy similar law of dissimilar material modeling about the residual velocity ofoblique penetration; based on the concerned dependent variable of ballistic, the dissimilarmaterial modeling experiment of penetrating metal target by low-speed projectile can becarried out.
