With the rapid development of China’s economy and the improvement of people’sliving standards, the car has become a daily means of transport. With high demand in theauto market, auto’s quality safety and reliability is very important. Engine is one of thecore components of the car as its power source, its quality will have a direct impact on theauto’s performance.Engine’s quality is mainly controlled in the production process, and it was too late tofind problem when out of the manufacture. How to control the quality on enginemanufacture process is important, in particular in mass production, fast delivery, highquality requirements, and case of different shapes. The3D coordinate machine with highprecision, high flexibility and excellent ability is able to become the principal means forquality control of engine. But, the3D coordinate measuring technology applied in kinds ofcompany are quite different. How to provide high-precision, high-accuracy3D coordinatemachine, repeat performance, and the correct measurement technology becomes veryimportant.The engine’s block, head, and crank are used as analysis objects in this study, with3Dcoordinate machine as detection instrument, through the3D coordinate’s selection, todesign of measurement clamps, optimization of the measurement program, and analysis ofthe measurement errors, research throughout3D coordinate of application links, obtainmore optimization of the3D coordinate measurement technology, to improve3Dcoordinates machine used in engine manufacture’s efficiency, and consistency andaccuracy, to guarantee products quality and ensure the manufacture process.
