After taking all the pros and cons of the existing facilities planning layout method into consideration and redesigning of the company’s facilities layout using the system layout planning, the article provides three alternative facilities planning schemes, the next step is to evaluate the alternative schemes and chooses out the best one. Considering the significant impact of the material handling having on the company, the alternative schemes are analyzed through the calculation of the total material handling. Total amount of material handling equals material handling plus transportation distance.After calculation the total amount of material handling of the Scheme One is minimum. When considering the influence of other factors on the facilities planning, the article evaluates the alternative schemes by use of factor weighted evaluation method, the result shows weighted average of scheme one is highest and thus being the preferred one.After the optimization, the simulation of the workshop production process after the optimization of facility planning is carried out by using Flexsim simulation software.. Based on the analysis of the simulation results, the possible bottlenecks and shortages in the process of production are presented, and the improvement suggestions are given..The main content of the paper is the combination of theoretical knowledge and production practice during the internship..
