Magnetic film materials refer to strong magnetic materials with the thickness of 1μm or less. We can make various magnetic film materials with different ingredient and thickness by magnetic materials. It can be divided into metallic and non metallic magnetic film materials based on the general properties of the material; according to the microstructure, it can also be divided into amorphous and microcrystalline, multilayer modulation magnetic film materials.The study of magnetic materials focuses on the temperature characteristic and high frequency characteristic,etc. As the basic parameter of magnetic materials, the permeability of magnetic materials is the key in the design, research and measurement of magnetic devices. The paper is designed to study the measuring method for the permeability of magnetic materials based on Short-circuited microstrip line.In the paper, firstly, based on the transmission line method, we deduce the formula of short-circuit microstrip line and create the model. After the simulation analysis of the model, we make the sample by copper block. Thirdly, we test the sample using the known film sample Co90Zr10. The S11 can be obtained under three different situations. In order to demonstrate the correctness and validness of the method, we calculate the permeability of magnetic materials and compare the result with the known data. It should be careful that the microstrip line length must be less than the set frequency range of the wavelength of 1/4.
