Refractive index planar microlens array has not only small diameter, large numerical aperture, and high imaging resolution, but also good focusing, collimating, transformation, multiple imaging and comprehensive imaging ability in optical information, which are used more and more widely in some fields in recent years, such as optical communication, optical convergence, shaping and interconnection and imaging and so on.Currently spherical or hemispherical lens are widely applied, which has large gap between the lenses. Large gap between the lenses can lead to the leakage of optical information. In order to solve this problem, our team has already fabricated intensive arrangement square and hexagonal-aperture planar microlens array, which can increase the receiving light area, reduce the gap between the lenses and improve the filling coefficient. Therefore, it can greatly improve the transmission performance of optical information. Moreover, the intensive arrangement square and hexagonal aperture planar microlens array has dynamic Moire display effect on matching micro-graphics array.In this paper, we focus on the Moire display effect based on square aperture planar microlens array to the corresponding micro-graphics array. In theory, based on the theory of Moire fringe made by one-dimensional grating, a sample 2-dimension model of Moire fringe is derived. The process of 2-D Moire fringe is simulated and the variety law of the pitch and the magnification are analyzed.In the experiments, square aperture planar microlens array and matching micrographics array with suitable structural parameters are selected to estimate the magnification and the variety law of the pitch. Influence factors of the best and clear Moire display effect are analyzed in theory and experiment. For example, the relative position of square aperture planar microlens array and micrographics array has an effect on the Moire display and observation point influences the moving of Moire display pattern. We try to put forward a simplified theoretical model of quantitative analysis of square aperture planar microlens array. The reseach result shows that square aperture planar microlens array has dynamic Moire display effect on matching micro-graphics array; when the angle between microlens array and micro-graphics array is small and the relative distances between them is equal to focal length of the microlens array, the Moire display effect is the clear. The moving direction of Moire display pattern is perpendicular to the projection of the eyes onto microlens array surface.In conclusion, the research of Moire display effect based on the square-aperture planar microlens array is of great theoretical significance and application value. It enriches the microlens array contents, affords a theoretic basis of farther research and promotes the connection between the microlens array and Moire fringe technology.
