High voltage switchgear is an important power transmission and distribution equipment, which plays a vital role on security and effective operation of the power system. Contact resistance of the joints and contacts in switchgear will rise under the condition of long time running-in, oxidation or wrong connection mode. The joints and contacts with abnormal contact resistance had a phenomenon of heat when loading current went through. The internal switchgear is usually a closed structure, so it has a poor thermal conditions. The heat generated from joints and contacts is easily to be accumulated, which would cause the internal temperature rises of the switchgear. High internal temperature would result in some malfunctions which can affect the mechanical properties of the internal electrical materials, even causes some serious accidents such like power outages and fires. Therefore, it has a very high practical value to research on overheating fault diagnosis system of switchgear.This paper studies the advantages and disadvantages of common switchgear fault detection method, by analyzing the transfer process of the switch cabinet contact heating te-mperature and heat of the cabinet, to design a new switch cabinet fault detection method, put forward three groups of switch cabinet for fault diagnosis of T,R, RA parameters, study the relationship between the state the parameters and fault, aiming at the uncertainty and fuzziness of state parameters, R, T between the RA and the switch cabinet heating state, to develop the fault diagnosis system of switchgear based on neural network.This paper developed a set of switch cabinet fault diagnosis system includes two parts of hardware and software, the hardware of the system mainly realizes the temperature, current signal acquisition function, including sensor, temperature acquisition module selection and debugging and current acquisition module design.Software we develo-ped a set of man-machine interface is simple, the operation of PC monitoring software strong software, mainly to achieve the original data extraction, state parameter, calculation of calculation of switch cabinet fault diagnosis and system database management functions.Finally, simulation experiments were conducted to verify the effectiveness of the system, the neural network fault diagnosis model of switch cabinet is established by simulation of fault samples, then build a good model is applied to the diagnosis system, the simulation of fault diagnosis switch cabinet. The simulation results are consistent with the simulation of fault diagnosis samples, so as to verify the correctness of the system.
