During the construction and operation of water resources and hydropower projects, the problems of slopes stability are involved in most of the time, especially the high and steep slope issues in large-scale projects, in addition, slopes especially slopes which located near de dam, once instability occurs, may result in the loss of the function of the dam and even the risk of dam failure. Nowadays, most of the high dams are located in the western region, while the western region is Chinese major earthquake zone. Therefore, some analyses about slope stability for water resources and hydropower projects during earthquakes are necessary. This paper makes some in-depth analysis and research about some problems in the seismic response analysis method of slope and the slope seismic input mechanism by means of the numerical simulation through finite element analysis and some engineering examples, and this will offer some methods for the slope seismic stability analysis. In this paper, the main content includes:(1) This paper puts forward a seismic input mechanism based on the non-reflecting boundary. At first, this paper uses the large general finite element program ANSYS/LS-DYNA to do dynamic calculation of slope, it utilizes the non-reflecting boundary to simulate radiation damping effect of the infinite foundation, and puts forward a free field seismic input method based on that boundary. This mechanism can realize a seamless connection with ANSYS/LS-DYNA program.(2) This paper puts forward a finite element method based on principle of strength reduction. This paper selects the Mohr-Coulomb yield criterion to simulate the material yield characteristic, and combine this finite element method with limit equilibrium method in slope stability calculation. In addition, This paper puts above finite element method into the slope aseismic stability analysis of Jiexu Hydropower Station and compare the results with limit equilibrium method, further proving the feasibility of this method.(3) This paper makes a study on the dynamic model test for left bank slope of Baihetan Hydropower Station. The dynamic model test is an important method of the research on aseismic stability analysis of slope, this paper describes the whole process about the shaking table test for the left bank slope of Baihetan Hydropower Station, and then simulate the trial model by the finite element software, especially making a deep discuss about the finite element mesh generation and contact crevice simulation, Finally, this paper compares the calculated values and measured values, and gets some reasonable results.
