The coupling beam is an essential plastic energy consumption component in the shear walls structures, as well as the first defense line in seismic fortification. The stiffness, ductility, bearing capacity and energy consumption capacity of the coupling beam have a massive impact on the seismic behavior of the shear walls structures. The researchers have paid close attention to the investigation on the ductility and energy consumption of coupling beams. In the high-rise buildings, limited by the functional requirements of the building and structural arrangement, coupling beams are usually in the form with small span-depth ratio. Studies have shown that when span-to-depth ratio is smaller than 2.0, in coupling beams, brittle shear failure usually occurs, which means the coupling beam tends to be unable to meet the required seismic performance of the shear walls.From the previous conception of semi seam coupling beam and what previous investigation have been done by our research group, semi seam coupling beam can effectively improve the seismic behavior of coupling beams. This kind of coupling beam not only has better bearing capacity, stiffness and ductility, but also vary the coupling beam’s failure mode, which enable coupling beam get greater energy consumption capacity and play the role of protecting shear walls.In order to make the destruction process and influence factors of semi seam coupling beam clear, this thesis will research on following aspects based on former reseach:First of all, the finite element model of ordinary coupling beam, semi seam coupling beam and dual coupling beam with different span-to-depth ratio which is changed by controlling span and varying depth of section under cycling load is established to analyze their mechanical properties utilizing ABAQUS, in order to analyze the destruction process by comparision and verify that semi seam coupling beam has better seismic property than other two forms of coupling beam.In the second place, frequently-used ways of designing experiments are introduced. Orthogonal experiment is designed and ABAQUS is utilized to simulate the experiment, in order to research the influential factors of seismic property of semi seam coupling beam such as span-to-depth ratio( L/ h), semi seam ratio( /sh h), concrete strength grade, stirrup to longtitudinal reinforcement ratio( /yv sv y snf A sf A), quantity of diagonally crossing reinforcement(yx sxnf A) and how they work.At last, data of numerical tests are used to regression analysis, and restoring force model of skeleton curves is established. The hysteretic curves are analyzed and the coupling beams’ rigidity degradation law is studied to establish the structrual restoring force model under cyclic loading.
