The research on infrared radiation characteristics of Terminal Sensitive Projectile is of great significance to improve the viability of our armored vehicles, to assess the performance of the detection or warning equipments for Terminal Sensitive Projectile and to get data for developing large-scale confrontation simulation platform. In this paper, we choose a typical model of Terminal Sensitive Projectile for study. A model for temperature calculation and infrared characteristics calculation is developed after studying its structure and moving characteristics, with the use of numerical heat transfer, fluid mechanics, numerical thermal radiation, internal ballistics and computer graphics.Firstly, the geometric models are constructed and the parameters for infrared characteristics model calculation are acquired,base on the analysis of Terminal Sensitive Projectile working principle and the data about SAD ARM collected by project team.Secondly, a temperature calculation model, three-dimensional unsteady heat conduction equation with convection and radiation boundary conditions, is developed, based on the analysis of moving characteristics and boundary conditions. The method for calculating both the boundary conditions and initial conditions is provided.Thirdly, a Terminal Sensitive Projectile infrared characteristics calculation model, considering self-radiation, reflected radiation, propagation effects and spectral response, is developed, based on the results of temperature. A method of radiation image generation is also provided. And Terminal Sensitive Projectile infrared characteristics calculation software is developed on windows platform with the language of Matlab.Fourthly, the radiation characteristic parameters are acquired from test. The Terminal Sensitive Projectile infrared characteristics are calculated with the software in a certain condition. The results show that:①the infrared radiation of the front end of the projectile changes a lot during the first period due to the velocity changes.②the infrared radiation of the submunitions is very small.③A highlighted area near the battery in the submunitions will appear in the steady scanning stage. But it may not appear in the detector for the relative position changes.Finally, global sensitivity analysis of the infrared characteristics calculation model is done based on Morris method. The results show that the sensitivity of the initial temperature of the projectile, specific heat capacity of its material, the flight speed and the emissivity of its skin’s material are very high. So to ensure the accuracy of model, we’d better ensure the above parameters’ accuracy.In a word, the Terminal Sensitive Projectile infrared characteristics calculation model is feasible and the theory and the results can provide technical support for assess the performance of the detection or warning equipments for Terminal Sensitive Projectile and to get data for developing large-scale confrontation simulation platform.
