Large quantity and low efficiency are the present situation of industrial boilers in China. Boilers’energy conservation has been a focus on energy saving, and has a great potential. The thermal efficiency is an economical operation index of industrial boilers. There are many factors influencing thermal efficiency of heating boiler, between which a certain correlation exists. With the rapid development of computer and information technology, huge amounts of data can be easily obtained for industrial companies, but its utilization is low. What the industrial companies want is how to obtain information from these different data.In order to improve the efficiency of industrial boilers and save energy, an research work is carried out in this paper based on the huge amounts of data generated when boiler runs.Firstly, for a large number of parameter data of industrial boiler, a model which can reflect the thermal efficiency is established by using principal component analysis(PCA) based on historical data. It completely reduces dimensionality and decoupling daia. The key parameter which result in a low thermal efficiency can be directly got by calculating the contribution chart based on T2 and SPE statistics. This can guide operators in real-time to adjust these parameters maintaining boiler efficient operation. The practice shows that this method is feasible in a certain extent.Secondly, industrial boiler systems may exist the nonlinear phenomena, and PCA is a linear method which also has its own limitations. All this can lead to some errors. Thus kernel principal component analysis(KPCA) is adopted to analyze boiler’s massive data, and to do experiments using the same sample. It can further to establish the influencing parameters and guide the operation.Finally, orthogonal test method is used to optimize the parameters. It can find the optimization interval under certain load of controllable parameters which are associated with boiler efficiency. This can guide the operator to operate which can improve operating efficiency of boiler. Achieving the purposes of optimal operation and energy saving.
