In recent years, with the higher degree of equipment automation, the large enterprises like SNOPEC take more account of the power quality problem, but the existing power quality device can hardly meet the needs of the sensitive load. so the application of SMES has a bright future, but the application of new device is depended on the comprehensive development of its function.With the running of superconducting substation in Baiyin, the MJ/MVA SMES(Superconducting Magnetic Energy Storage) is the world’s first set of connecting high temperature superconducting energy storage system, which makes the using superconducting energy storage system to solve various power quality problems towards commercializing.This paper first analyses the statistics about voltage dips and introduces the operating principle of SMES, which lays a foundation of mathematical derivation and analysis of SMES to solve problem.Then the SMES model using PI control and LADRC control was designed in PSASP environment, and a large enterprise simulation model was established in one setting.According to the running state of enterprise grid a voltage dip case was simulated when the external power was shed. It is simulated to validate the effect of voltage dip governance using SMES that SMES was connected in parallel to the 10 k V bus which was impacted by voltage dip.Finally analyzes the principle of power oscillation in the large enterprise. When external grid was suffered from a certain fault, due to the weak stability of enterprise self-provided plant, external grid shedding often leads to oscillation. And the fact that fault clearance time is long may cause the generator in the self-provided plant quit, which exacerbates the influence of the accident.Based on the analysis of a typical case about the power oscillation. Equal Area Criterion and energy function method were used to analyze the damping effect of SMES to SMIBS. It is verified by the simulation that inhibition of SMES to power oscillation in the SMIBS and positive damping effect of SMES to the transient process of voltage dip.
