At present, with the fast development of electronic science and information technology, nickel and zinc soft magnetic ferrites material has become one of the most important electronic components magnetic materials. Because of its high mechanical hardness, high initial permeability, high saturation magnetic flux density, high resistivity, low coercive force, low power loss and better chemical stability, better temperature stability and consistency of features, the nickel and zinc soft magnetic ferrites are widely used in surface mounted technology, communication technology, power equipment, computer products, and other various kinds of electronic devices. In recent years, along with the electronic components toward to the direction of high density, high frequency, chip piece, miniaturization, micro miniaturization, integration and high quality, the required technical index of the nickel zinc magnetic properties of soft magnetic ferrite materials and power loss characteristics is higher and higher.According to the different applied fields, nickel zinc soft magnetic ferrite can be divided into:high permeability nickel zinc ferrites, power nickel zinc ferrites and anti-electromagnetic interference nickel zinc ferrites. Among them, the power nickel zinc soft magnetic ferrites (also called power ferrites) are mainly used in pulse transformers, DC-DC converters, switching power supply transformers and inductors of fly back transformers. This type of ferrites needs not only high saturation magnetization Ms, lower power loss Pcv, wide frequency response, but also good temperature characteristic[1].First of all, this paper gives a brief overview of the classification in soft magnetic ferrites, and points out the differences among the soft magnetic ferrites. Secondly, we simply introduce the main parameters, such as magnetic parameters and power loss parameters of the nickel zinc soft magnetic ferrites. We describe of the preparation technology, the advantages and disadvantages of each process technologies. Finally, we characterize the performance of the nickel zinc soft magnetic ferrites which are prepared and analyze the influence of Sn4+ ion substitution to nickel zinc ferrites.In this paper, we adopted the traditional solid state method technology. We selected analytical pure Fe2O3, Ni2O3 and ZnO as the main raw material, and we selected analytical pure SnO2 as the reagent of substitution. We supplemented by analytical pure CuO, Al2O3, CaCO3, TiO2, V2O5 as the additives, and prepared nickel zinc soft magnetic ferrites with Ni0.65Zn0.35SnxFe2-xO4 (x=0,0.02,0.04,0.06,0.08). Through the research of sintering process, ion substitution, we prepared the soft magnets with excellent properties because they had relatively high magnetic properties, low power loss and good temperature stability which can make it work at more stringent conditions.
