Energy shortage and environmental deterioration are two serious issues that the human beings facing. Develop clean renewable energy and improve energy utilization efficiency are two possible ways to handle the energy and environmental problem. Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) based power generation is a promising technology to recover waste energy or effectively utilizing renewable energy of low enthalpy. Condenser is an important unit in ORC, enhanced performance and optimum design of the condenser is significant for achieving high efficiency or low cost.This thesis presents a mathematical model of LSC, and some key geometric parameters on the condenser total cost are examined. The LSC is also compared with serpentine condenser (SC) and parallel flow condenser (PFC)in view of total cost, and it shows an advantage on comprehensive cost at the given design condition.The thermodynamic analysis models for the ORC system using different types of condenser are established, and the systematic thermodynamic analysis of ORC contain different types of condenser are compared in a steady context. The sensitivity analysis is examined at varied heat resource parameters and environment parameter, and the performance of LSC in different context is discussed, the range of application has developed.Finally, some single variable and multivariable optimization models by geometric parameters of LSC using in the ORC are established, and parameters of number of tube per pass, tube length, inner diameter tube, outlet temperature of air are optimized solely or synchronously, the results show the geometric parameters and operation conditions influent the optimization. The validity of optimization model is proved by some cases, it is significant for improving the systematic performance based on LSC.
