With the rapid development of container transport industry, container terminal throughput and the number of deep-water wharf increases rapidly. The high requirement of wharf equipment and process is put forward. Quayside container crane as the main force of loading is developing in the large-scale and high efficient direction. The load on steel structure increases daily and fatigue damage as one of the main failure of steel structure has gradually attracted people’s attention.In this paper, the finite element of 80T testing quayside container crane in zhenghua port is taken to get the stress distribution of steel structure under different working condition. The stress test of quayside container crane is carried out. The finite element analysis result is compared with testing result to verify the effectiveness of model. According to the finite element analysis of quayside container crane, the fatigue weakness area is found. Stress cycles got by rain-flow counting method from the stress-time curve are represented by effective stress range. Combined with the crane load spectrum, the life prediction of crane is taken by using effective stress factor range.The life prediction software is compiled by LabWindows/CVI.The software included information input module, the basic parameters input and selecting method module, digital filter module, life prediction module, display module and database storage module. Adding alarm unit and the DAQ data acquisition part, the system can run online to provide a reliable support for the safe operation of cranes.
