The number of open spandrel masonry arch bridge is still large in our country. Most of open spandrel masonry arch bridges are built in 60-70’s. In the process of long-term operation, due to lack of necessary maintenance, traffic volume increase, heavier load and the like factors, the existing bridges suffer with material aging, structural damage and deformation. Many open spandrel masonry arch bridges are in danger. These dangerous bridges not only hinder improve the grade of road, but also endanger the road safety seriously. So, reinforcing these bridges that still bear the road traffic, improving the bearing capacity, eliminating security risks make it no longer become a stumbling block road is imminent. The main contents of this thesis is as follows:(1) Based on the trunk highway bridge’s detection report of Liangshan prefecture of Sichuan province, this thesis sum up the forms, causes and characteristics of the diseases of open spandrel masonry arch bridge.(2) This thesis take the Jiguang bridge in Zhongjiang County as the engineering background. According to the result of detection and evaluation, it proposes the method of reinforced concrete hoop closed the main arch ring, the method of arch strip outsourcing, the method of arch back outsourcing to reinforce the bridge.(3) The finite element model of the bridge before and after reinforcement is established and the stress state of the bridge is got before and after the reinforcement by the three different reinforcement methods.(4) The stress state of the bridge reinforced with three kinds of reinforcement methods is compared and analyzed. Through comparing, we can get the best reinforcement method. At the same time, the comprehensive comparison of three reinforcement methods is provided for reference of similar strengthening engineering..
