With the rapid development of the high temperature superconductor technology, high temperature superconducting technology has been widely used in various fields. But in the final analysis, the application of the superconducting technology depends on the performance of the superconducting tapes. We use the superconducting tapes is mainly based on the advantage of its strong electrical transport ability. Different from ordinary wire, the critical current of the high temperature superconducting tapes can be affected by many factors, lightly lead to the decrease of the transport capacity, or lose of the superconducting properties, even lead to the equipment damage. So the research on the critical current of superconducting tapes in different situations is very important. In this paper, the critical current characteristics of HTS tape are analyzed through experiment and simulation.This paper briefly introduces some characteristics and basic theory of superconducting tapes, and then the critical current measurement system of four lead method and residual method were built based on these theories. First the critical current of high temperature superconducting tapes were measured by the four lead method for short sample, and then the critical current of long YBCO tapes were tested by the continuous and automation measurement system for the current of high temperature superconducting tapes, and the damage of the tape were defected. Both methods have their advantages and disadvantages, the appropriate method should be selected in the later applications of the superconducting tapes.And then study on the effect of mechanical properties on the critical current of HTS tapes through the experiment. Introducing the equivalent bending radius of curvature, the equivalent radiuses of curvature of the superconducting tape under torsion bending were calculated by physical modeling method. And then the critical current of superconducting tape under torsion bending was measured by a four probe method. Analytic relationship results of critical current superconducting tapes with the equivalent radius of curvature were obtained by fitting the experimental data. So it provides a method for analysis the critical current of HTS tapes under torsion bending. Then the critical currents of YBCO superconducting tapes under different tensile were measured, and the critical tension of YBCO superconducting tapes was obtained. The experimental results of two mechanical strains can be used as future reference for design of superconducting devices.Finally, the simulation analysis of the electrical transport properties of HTS tapes was done by ANSYS. The approximated critical current can be calculated by the self load characteristic curve and the B-Ic curve of short sample. The impact on the critical current by ratio of width and thickness of the tape and the impact on the electrical transport capacity by adding magnetic material with different arrangement were analyzed. And the electrical transport capacities of the superconducting tapes in different parallel stacking modes were researched through simulation analysis.
