With the continuous development of economic and accelerated urbanization, the losses caused by earthquakes tend to arise. As a consequence, performance-based seismic design of engineering structures has been widespread concerned. Research in this paper is based on the sub-topic (collaborative design of major offshore transport engineering structures) of the National 973 Program (evaluation and design of life-cycle seismic performance of major offshore transport engineering structures). In the paper, data research, theoretical analysis and numerical simulation methods are adopted. The following works are conducted in terms of the seismic analysis of shield tunnels based on performance:(1) Contents related to the performance-based seismic design of engineering structures are summarized. On this basis of this, seismic fortification levels and earthquake damages rating of tunnels are put forwarded, then relevant performance indicators are selected.(2) Shiziyang shield tunnel is selected in this paper. In terms of the beam-spring model and the homogeneous ring model with equivalent stiffness, response displacement method and dynamic time-history method are utilized to study the lateral seismic analysis and also the differences between the different models and calculate methods are analyzed.(3) Based on the superposition of the results of static and dynamic analysis, the range of indicators of lateral stress and deformation of shield tunnels are analyzed.
