With the rapid development of high-speed railway, squeal noise resulting from friction brake, a brake way must be retained in the trains, is more and more serious. Squeal noise not only has serious pollution on the environment, but also affects the ride comfort. To reduce the friction brake squeal noise, special test equipment is needed to test and analyze the relationship between squeal noise and the factors including material, structure, interface characteristics of brake disc and brake pad, speed and load of train. However, the special test rig for researching the friction brake squeal noise of high-speed train has been rarely reported. Therefore, the research and development of a small friction brake noise test rig of high-speed train is of great practical significance. In this paper, friction brake scaling test was researched according to the scaling test principle. The similarity physical quantities, similarity relations and similarity constants were determined for the friction brake 1:1 test and scaling test. According to the main technical parameters of high-speed train, the main parameters of the friction brake 1:1 test were calculated. Then the parameters of friction brake scaling test were calculated by similarity relations and similarity constants. Based on the principle and parameters of friction brake scaling test, the mechanical structure was designed, which is suitable for single surface brake, double surface brake, dragged friction and different moments of inertia. The strength of axis in the test rig was checked by using the finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench. Bearing support stiffness has an important effect on critical rotation speeds. Bearing-rotor system was built based on the calculation of bearing stiffness. By using the ANSYS Workbench, the system’s critical rotation speeds were calculated. The results show that the working speed is lower than the critical rotation speeds, and there is a larger margin, which ensures the running stability of the test rig. The data acquisition system and control system were also designed in this paper. Through reasonable hardware selection, schematic design and PLC programming, the systems can realize the function of manual test, automatic brake test and automatic dragged friction test. Finally, after parts processing, assembling and debugging, the test rig is able to run safely, stably, and satisfy the various design indexes.
