Buckling-restrained brace(Buckling restrained brace, BRB for short) is a new kind of axially loaded steel damper with good stiffness and hysteretic energy capacity, which can achieve the yield in a state of tension or compression and never occur buckling. Traditional buckling-restrained brace has too many components and kinds of material, which makes that excessive factors have to be considered in the design. It is hard to control the quality and precision of components processing, manufacturing and assembly when the traditional buckling-restrained brace is used in construction. Therefore, An experiment is conducted on the double-tube buckling-restrained brace in this paper. Then this paper makes the experimental analysis and finite element simulation analysis.At first, this article reviews the buckling-restrained brace, analyzes the research background and research status about buckling-restrained brace, studies the transverse and longitudinal structure and working principle of buckling-restrained brace.Secondly, double-tube buckling-restrained brace was designed based on the theory and the mechanical properties of double-tube buckling-restrained brace were studied under Low-cyclic Reversed Loading test. Two kinds of design on double-tube buckling-restrained brace are put forward for the practical engineering application in the paper. According to the theory of finite element, two kinds of double-tube buckling-restrained brace models are built in ANSYS, and are conducted in the modal analysis and the quasi static load analysis. Comparative analysis on the advantages and disadvantages of two models are made. Based on the analysis, it is concluded that double-tube buckling-restrained brace is a kind of excellent brace with good energy dissipation capacity. It is better to install the pin bolt in the middle of double-tube buckling-restrained brace in the actual application than installing them on two side of brace. The pin bolt plays an important role in fixed outside tube position and does not affect the support stress distribution, and keeps good hysteretic energy dissipation capacity.Finally respectively use finite element analysis software to do single point response spectrum analysis on ordinary support steel frame and buckling-restrained brace steel frame. Then analysis of improving the seismic performance of steel frame with the buckling-restrained brace, and the advantage of buckling-restrained brace as a component to resist lateral force and seismic component are discussed. Buckling-restrained brace can greatly reduces the structural displacement response to provide structural lateral stiffness and energy dissipation capacity, at the same time takes a lead in the deformation stage to protect the main structure.
