| As the transportation problem of our cities became more and more serious, all major cities gave priority to the development of transportation which focused on the rapid rail transit system and the buses to alleviate the problem. However, the high cost of construction and operation made it difficult for governments to make ends meet and to ease the traffic problems.The successful practice of bike sharing in Hangzhou eased the traffic problems there to some extent, which helped the various regions government came to realize that the micro vehicle generate a maximum output from a minimum input. Hence, great importance should be attached to the promotion of this project in all cities in China to improve public traffic, to lower the cost of operation and to better extend the public traffic site to the last one kilometer.This paper conducts basic research into bike sharing system in the beginning, and then analyzes and summarizes its history, current situations, and reviews its research and profiles its development. By summarizing the practice and experience of bike sharing at home and abroad, this paper puts forward five essentials for its planning (location, right-of-way, transport control, stationing and catalysis). On the base of that, this paper further analyzes applicable conditions and implementation mechanisms for promoting the bike-sharing project in cities. Considering the urban functional districts, plot ratio and the quality of communities, this paper classifies the pilot area of bike-sharing project and illustrates its practical application of its promotion in cities.Next, this paper conducts research into its methods of planning for cities suitable for promoting this project, and then puts forward planning about market, traffic, road equipment and service points. This paper summarizes four kinds of operation modes of market planning, and compares their advantages, disadvantages and practical application; Base on the thoughts and concepts of "separating bicycles from motor vehicles on roads" and "Slow zone. Slow stone", the method of planning about four levels of the road net for bicycles is worked out; From three main aspects of target groups, the layout methods of service points and the management for renting bicycles, this paper develops six major layout patterns for its service points.
