In recent years, the research on model updating technology has begun to shift to the model validation. Compared with the traditional model updating, model validation technical pay more attention to the uncertainty, so that it can more effectively evaluate the model response prediction accuracy.Model validation is the further develop of model updating, but the key sector of model validation-- uncertainty reverse transfer is dependent on model updating technology. In order to quantify and transfer the uncertainty more effectively, the well-posedness of solution with the model updating is favorable.In this thesis, the development of model updating and validation was summarized detailedly. And conceptions as well as the mainly steps of the finite element model updating based on response surface methodology was well introduced too. Then, the problem of well-posedness solution under the incomplete deflection was discussed. And the establishment of a static model updating method based on Moore Penrose inverse was made. The example of the new method using on WuHan Yangtze River Bridge was purpose to validate the effectiveness.
