Nowadays, more and more resources are taken away from the earth, and the earth resources are increasingly scarce day by day. While energy issue has become the world’s most concerned issue, so the development of renewable energy has become a pressing matter of the moment. With the development of the economy, our country has become the biggest energy consumption country and automobile fuel accounted for more than 50% of the total consumption of fuel, so the new energy vehicle development has gained the government and enterprise’s great concern. However, due to the technical and cost constraints, the development of many kinds of new energy cannot be extended in large area. Alcohol and is Methane abundant in Guangxi area. In this paper, how to apply the alcohol and methane in an automobile engine was researched, the main research contents are as follows:Firstly, author went to a Zhejiang energy company, it’s existing new energy vehicle can be driven by the hydrogen rich gas converted from alcohol water mixture cracking device. The conditions and main parameters of the reaction were calculated, and a contrast experiment on two real vehicles were done in the company, one is driven by hydrogen-rich gas and the other is driven by oil.Secondly, According to the combustion characteristic of gaseous fuel engine, the engine knock phenomenon when it’s produced by hydrogen-rich gas was analyzed. While this phenomenon can be improved when the hydrogen-rich gas was mixed with some treated methane. So a set of electronic control system in the original vehicle was equipped and a C language program was wrote and simulated to mix the two kind of gases.Finally, the thermal cycle process of the engine was simulated to obtain the main parameters of the engine cycle process, The calculation of the related indicator parameters of the engine with different proportion of gas was carried out. Then the indicator diagram was drawn and some practical data was gotten to provide a theoretical basis for the follow-up research and development.
