In order to reduce the tracking interval between trains at the station area, the formation method is introduced into trains operation, so that the transport capacity of the railway system could be increased. Trains formation operation is possibly realized by the direct or indirect communication, the exchange of information makes linkages more closely between trains of formation. Trains formation operation not only improves the transport capacity, but also further protects the safe operation of the train, by the way enhances the adaptability of train running graph for adjustment of train operation.Four types are proposed the trains formation passing through station. These are the sequential reception and departure type, the internal overtaking type, the being crossed type and the being overtaken type. It is calculated that the tracking interval can be cut down by about 20% when the formation goes through station by the first type, under the same conditions transport capacity has been markedly improved. In addition, the formation passing time by the second type has been obviously decreased, because the following formed one overtakes the preceding one without stopping. Using the third type, the formed trains are passed individually by other train at the different stations during which they are dissolved and reformed. Finally, without being dissolved, the formation is overtaken as a whole at a time if the key turnout of throat area meets certain requirement. Detailed calculations and analysis of each type shows that trains formation operation is validated.In order to achieve the recently proposed trains formation operation, this thesis adjusts the existing structure of train operation control system, and researches on the automatic adjustment strategy for train tracking operation between two trains in the train formation. Taking general train operation control system as an example, this thesis introduces the improved scheme about the system structure, and summarizes the redundant rule between the train-to-train direct communication and the existing communication. Fuzzy control is used to keep the tracking interval between two trains in the train formation. Fuzzy control module is designed based on the on-board computer. It is added an artificial disturbance. Also this thesis verifies that the following train follows variation with the leading train, when there is no disturbance. The results show that the automatic adjustment strategy inside in the train formation can make the train operation efficiently and keep the train tracking in a steady state.
