Electronic endoscope is an extension of the doctor vision. Doctors can observe the human body organs and tissues and then diagnose disease without the need to have an operation. In the process of diagnosis and treatment of ENT(ears, nose, and throat) diseases, the images captured by the image sensor are displayed on the LCD screen, which provides a convenient for the doctor’s diagnosis. Also, images and videos can be saved for later comparison. This article is based on a portable electronic endoscope ENT to do further research.In this paper, we use highly integrated multimedia camera processor ASIC as the control and process core of the electronic endoscope system. The main work includes the following four aspects:(1)Design of the imaging optical system, objective lens is designed of three piece spherical mirror structure with small abrration, meawhile, the design meet the requirements of filed, resolution and image quality. The system is easy to package because of its small radial size. (2)Design of the image acquisition program. Through comparative analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of CCD and CMOS image sensor, we finally used OV7740 image sensor in this work. (3)Design of system circuit software. The whole system were based on highly integrated multimedia camera processer, then OV788 were used as the main processing chip to achieve the function of multi-task switching between video preview, capture, and playback. To facilitate the operation of the medical workers, the system has a simple menu interface. (4)Development of hardware circuit, inluding image acquisition interface, image display interface, audio capture interface, USB power supply circuit and SD card storage circuit. The whole system is divided into front and rear ends, the front end consists of the optical system and image capture part, the rear end consists of image decoding part, output display part and other parts.The portable electronic ENT endoscope designed in this paper has a compact archiecture, the backend PCB area occupied only 50*70mm. Resolution of the images captured by CMOS image sensor is 640*480, resolution of the LCD panel is 320*240, the main chip supports multiple video storing formats, inluding.avi format,.mp4 format and so on. The performance of the portable electronic endoscope has meet all the requirements of the proposed design, and it has broad application prospects especially in the ENT disease diagnosis.
