As the focus of Chinese economic booming, urban construction is rapidly moving forward. Excavation engineering is an important part of urban construction so it’s certain that excavation engineering is more and more concerned by experts and scholars. Since the high density of urban excavation construction, the construction difficulty and relatively high requirements of environmental protection, the temporality of excavation engineering, the small safety inventory, which will lead foundation accidents frequently. So, using a scientific and reasonable method to analyze and calculate the reliability of excavation can not only have a clear understanding of the whole project, and also has a strong guiding significance for the improvement of excavation engineering problem.First of all, the cause of the excavation accidents is analyzed in detail, the various factors which could cause the damage of excavation support system and the impact on the surrounding environment has been obtained. Secondly, a Bayesian network database has been obtained by summarizing excavation accidents. In the mean time, a method which can be used to determine the root of priori probability is put forward. After that, a Bayesian network has been established based on various factors and the casual relationship between factors which obtained by forgoing analysis. Since then, the standard of reliability level which applies to this paper has been established by checking out the relevant literature. Furthermore, the importance of analytical methods of the various factors in Bayesian network has been summarized. At last, the procedure of reliability analysis of excavation based on Bayesian network with engineering examples has been introduced in detail. Short after, the reliability of this excavation has been analyzed with tools software. The reliability level and the importance division of various factors which may cause the accident of this engineering has been obtained.The method of Bayesian network analysis presented in this paper can represent the causal of excavation accident more intuitively, thus it can make acontribution to carrying out the probability analysis of excavation accident more efficiently and providing strong technical support for the prevention of excavation accidents.
