The operation of the power system is closely related to national security and people’s happy life.In the neutral point ineffectively grounded systems,the single-phase-to-earth faults frequently occur. When single-phase-to-earth faults occur,the fault features are difficult for different grid running situations. So lots of experts have focused on the related research about the line detection theory and device.After reality testing,the effect of line detection is unsatisfactory.The main reasons are the environment of grid running situation is complex and the characteristics of fault signals is not conspicuous.In addition,the sampling, conversion and processing circuits of existing device are not advanced,which lead the line detection device can’t achieve the desired effect.For those reason,This paper presents the line detection theory based on fault factors.And this paper utilize the matlab/simulink software to verity this line detection theory.After intermittent arc grounding simulation,the metallic simulation and non-metallic simulation,the results of line detection are satisfactory.Then,this paper base this line detection to design a novel line device.The hardware of this device utilize kunlungtongtai corporation’s MCGS(Monitor and Control Generated System) touch screen,ADVANTECH corporation’s ADAM-4117 signal acquisition module and the signal conditioning circuits. The software arithmetic of this device utilize the fault factors line detection theory.In the end,this paper design the shell of this novel device.After laboratory testing,northeast electric power research institute testing and the actual running in power system,the results consistently show that the novel line detection device is accurate.This device can improve the accuracy of line detection by 40%.The novel device already reached the design target.Due to this line detection device has the advantages of high-accuracy,good human-computer interface and easy to operating,etc.This device is a better solution to line detection problem. So,this device has good market prospects.
