Along with the reform and opening up,Rizhao port became a new coastal port, After30years’construction, it is now one of the20mainhub ports of china.Rizhao port now consists of two ports areas,shijv port area and lanshan port area. According to the overall plan of Rizhao Port,Lanshan port area is divided into three operation areas,including south,middle and north operation areas.At present north operation area is the only aera without berth.In order to increase throughput to serve for the development of harbor industry, Rizhao will establishe three piers,include20000tons,40000tons and50000tons repectively.Therefore it is necessary to research on the risk assessment for Handymax bulk carrier entering and leaving the north area of Lanshan Port.At the same time,it is very helpful for verifing the feasibility and the rationality of the design of the berth and wharf construction.The channel waters as apart of the port navigation environment is a complicated system which is affected by a lot of factors. Analytic Hierarchy Process took it as a system, according to the decomposition,comparative judgment and comprehensive way of thinking to make a decision. According to the characteristics of the channel,we troubleshoot the potential risk factor one by one on the basis of the data statistics of some accidents that affecting the safe navigation of the channels. Through expert scoring, screen out the common evaluation significance to establish the obvious hierarchical structure ofrisk assessment index system, divide the levels of risk, establish a hierarchical system of risk evaluation.In this article, Frist,I deal with the main purpose, significance and methods ofthe study.,introduces the navigation conditions in north operation area of Lanshan water。 Then,applies AHP method to the study on the navigation safety for the Handymax bulk carrier sailing in this area. The navigation security is judged by analyzing each factor and the impact to the result.Finally,based on the outcome, suggestions for the navigation safety, the construction of the wharf and the improvement of the navigation environment are offered.
