The high-speed railway (HSR) has been rapidly developed recently. There is a rising demand to transmit large amount of data for the train safety and passenger service. However the Doppler effect and the unexpected environments around the train make the wireless channel more complicated, where the communication quality of the HSR is poor and a high dropped-call rate and low data-transfer rate are observed. To develop future HSR communication systems, an exact knowledge of the fading channel is of great importance. Since HSR mobile radio channel differs considerably from that in cellular mobile communication systems, new channel models for HSR communications are needed.Channel model is the fundamental to analyze the performance of communication system. With respect to the method to build the channel model, there are three kinds of models:deterministic model, semi-deterministic model and statistical model. In order to design and do research of high speed railway communication system, it’s necessary to develop wireless channel model of different scenario. The environment along the track in HSR, the great loss of the train body and the Doppler effect make it very hard to build a channel model dedicated for HSR.This paper proposes a geometry-based stochastic channel model (GSCM) for HSR。The scenarios involve three typical example:plain, mountain and urban. Then we derived the statistics of parameter in the model. The architecture of the software is discussed and the function and the realization of every module is proposed in the paper. Finally, we test and verify the correctness of this model from the aspect such as delay spread, angle spread, Rician factor, angle of departure and the space-time correlation function.
