The old city is an important part of contemporary urban system, it carries an urban impression, is thematerial carrier of urban communication activities, is an important field of contemporary urbanstyle characteristics.Thus, shaping the city regional business district is the key to improve the overall imageof the city, but also an important means to avoidhomogenization of city, city culture. At present, shapingthe city regional culturecharacteristics has become an important means of promoting economicdevelopment, so Chinese characteristics or "Chinese" as the basic principles ofthe developmentof attention. In some ways, this change is welcome, but the corresponding exposed some problems. Manycity renovation to empty Chinesebuilding cultural vocabulary, deals with the different regional city cultureandsettlements, while on the "Chinese regional" characteristics of the coat, however,with the real localculture or appear united outwardly but divided at heart.The connotation of city regional culture is the pursuit of the internal driving forceto promote thedevelopment of modern city, we can give a contemporary cityunique character, can call up the city people’ssense of pride and sense of belonging. Commercial street is a typical example of a linear spatialrepresentation of the city, it is the skeleton of the city, also be the link betweeneach function area of thecity, is the most important carrier of the most concentrated areas of the City show style, reflectthe vitality of contemporary city,represents the image of the city. It is in the form of the form of publicspace, it plays a decisive role in the surface structure of city. Any of a unique city will have its ownunique features commercial street. Thus, the commercial street with the characteristics reflectthe characteristics of the city in a certain sense.Now, emerging large-scale features commercial street is flourishing, how to design a richregional characteristics of the old city commercial street, the city’s overall image and historical context canbe inherited and perfected, is an important topic. Regional landscape planning method, this paper attemptsto explore the commercial street, to find the key with specific examples andsolutions. In this paper, the oldcity business district planning and design of Zhenjiang city as an example, discusses how to integrate intothe local culturecharacteristic commercial street. Starting from the point of view of regionalculture, specific to the commercial street in the old city of Zhenjiang City, the formation of its regionalcharacteristics, and provide a theoretical basis for our future old city commercial street landscape design.
