In the recent past, the Lattice Boltzman method (LBM) has been applied to a large class of fluid flow and heat transfer problems. Application of the LBM to solve energy equations, in particular by means of the so-called passive scalar approach has been known for quite some time. This.has essentially been the simplest approach. However, few of previous studies have the computation of radiation information, which is using LBM.Since processes are localized in the LBM, it is well suited for a parallel architecture. In order to mitigate the effect of the isotropy in the polar direction, in the present LBM approach, lattices with more number of directions than those being used for the2-D system have been employed. The emissive power and heat flux distributions have been obtained for a wide range of extinction coefficients. The LBM results have been compared against the results obtained from the finite-volume method (FVM). Good comparison has been obtained.
