Reducing the size and weight of the drive system to improve energy efficiency, andimprove the performance of controllability are important. A new structure of the spur geardifferential is proposed in this paper, compared with traditional differential cylindrical helicalgear wheel, the new structure of transmission can compress the axial dimension of differentialand reduce the size of the differential in the space, to achieve the design goals of small sizeand light weight. The main work is done for:WW planetary bodies with spur gear formed as a basic institution, through the method ofgear modification so that the left and right parts of the differential have different types oftransmission, to achieve the goal of compression in axial dimension; In the new structuredesign of spur gear differential, this paper proposes several design requirements whichshould be satisfied, including the axial assembly conditions and torque sharing conditions wasfirst proposed in this paper, to solve the design conditions which must be satisfied in thedesign of planetary transmission mechanism about selecting the modification coefficientof the gear pair.On the designed differential, this paper made the motion characteristics analysis, torquecharacteristic analysis and transmission efficiency analysis in the straight driving and turning,and deduced the corresponding formulas. It establishes the foundation for further optimizationof the design for new transmission.The paper based on the specific design parameters, designed a new structure of thedifferential, and applied Pro/E to establish three-dimensional solid models; the ADAMSapplied for the motion characteristics analysis and torque characteristic analysis of thedifferential analysis, to prove the operational principle of designed differential should bereasonable, and the relevant calculation formula deduced in the paper should be correct.Due to the design of new differential requires a large amount of calculation, the methodof selecting complex and calculation for modification coefficient, design and calculation ofstrength or check calculation. Using VB compiled CAD program with profile shifted of thespur gear, laid the foundation for the design and calculation of the differential.In this paper, the design of new type differential can be used to have higher requirementsfor space and weight vehicles, such as cars, light electric vehicles; correlation analysisconducted in this paper can be used in the design of such differential.
