In recent years, with the progress of informatization construction in various industries in our country, communications, networking, data exchange and other related industries has been rapid development; drive rapid development of the Internet data center (Internet Date Center, referred to IDC) computer room and other large infrastructure. So that the construction of data center in our country has entered a sustained growth period.IDC computer rooms have huge internal heat and they need to exhaust heat almost all year round. So the air conditioning equipments have to run throughout the year, then air-conditioning energy occupy high proportion. Based on the basic situation of the development of IDC computer rooms, this paper described the characteristics of air conditioning and the importance of energy-saving in computer rooms. After introducing the existing annual cooling technologies in IDC computer rooms, comparing the advantages and disadvantages of existing air conditioning technologies and proposed combined air conditioning system by heat pipe and vapor compression in computer rooms. In this paper, the system is studied from the following aspects:First, construct the combined air conditioning system by heat pipe and vapor compression in computer rooms and describe energy-saving principle of the system. Determine the design conditions according to the IDC rooms’ heat load characteristics, then design and calculate for main equipments of combined air conditioning system. Design process seeks to make the combined air conditioning system has optimal performance in both heat pipe conditions and cooling conditions to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the system.Secondly, establish mathematical model to describe flow and heat transfer characteristics of internal refrigerant of the combined air conditioning system. By solving discrete mathematical model, program composition to get simulation analysis of characteristics in main pipe section in heat pipe conditions. From theoretical analysis can get the influence law for of the different heat source temperature difference, refrigerent charge and air volume for the heat pipe system.Thirdly, according to the design results of the system, build a combined air conditioning system performance test experiment table. Experimentally study on performance of the system under different heat source temperature difference, refrigerent charge and air volume. Based on the experimental results, the combined air conditioning system has good cooling performance in both heat pipe conditions and cooling conditions. At the same time, compared the experimental results with the simulation results, the same trend of the cooling effect under the influence of different factors can verify the reasonable of mathematical model. Finally, create auunal dynamic operating mathematical model for the combined air conditioning system. Solve the program composition with MATLAB and get simulation analysis of the system under different climatic conditions in our country (Shenyang, Beijing, Changsha, Guangzhou, and Kunming). Investigate energy-saving and economy of the combined air conditioning system compared with traditional computer room air conditioningThe combined air conditioning system by heat pipe and vapor compression in computer rooms in this paper give full consideration to the IDC rooms’ internal heat and moisture load characteristics and ambient air cooling source characteristics. On the foundation of operational reliability, the combined air conditioning system takes full use of nature cooling source. Through the theoretical and experimental results in this paper, it shows that the combined air conditioning system has good feasibility to IDC computer rooms as the representative of objects which need cooling source perennial.
