Automotive leaf spring is one of the key components of the vehic le.Improving the e ffic ienc y of des ign a nd ana lys is of the lea f spring, and thereliab ility of the lea f spring, he lps to reduce the cost of production and use,and reduce the cons umption o f resource. Meanwhile, the positio ningparameters character analys is of leaf spring suspens io n, he lps improve thecar’s handling performance. This paper studies the optima l des ign a ndsimulation analysis methods of taper-leaf spring.Firstly, Matlab software was used for optimization design o f taper-leafspring. M inimum mass was the optimization goals for the design o f taper-leafspring, and the optimization was set in the specific boundary conditio ns,finally the parameter of taper-leaf spring was got.Secondly, by using the finite ele me nt method, taper-leaf spring finiteele ment a na lys is (FEA) model was built in nonlinear finite e le ment a na lys issoftware ABAQUS. Force situation o f leaf spring and brackets was calculatedin specific conditio ns, such as the impact load conditio n, emergenc y brakingcondition. By applying reasonable boundary conditions, the strength oftaper-leaf spring was analyzed.Third ly, front suspension positioning parameters character FEA model o ftaper-leaf spring was establis hed in ABAQUS, and front suspens ionpositioning parameters character was analyzed in specific conditions, such asparalle l wheel trave l simulation, opposite wheel travel s imulation, singlewhee l travel s imulation, longitud ina l force of the tire in the same directio n,latera l forces of the tire in the same direction. Through the suspens ionpositioning parameters character simulation, correlation curve of wheelalignment parameters changes with the wheels travel was got.Fina lly, establis hed the fro nt suspens ion d yna mics s imulation model inAdams and simulated, then compared the simulatio n results with the resultsgot by Abaqus. Virtual prototype model was establis hed, and vehicle hand lingand stability a na lys is was used to study the impact of the suspens ionpositioning parameters on vehicle handling stability.
