With the seriousness of air pollution and the development of automotiveelectronics, On-Board Diagnostic which is used for vehicle exhaust emissionmonitoring and vehicle fault diagnostic is becoming more and more important. As thenumber of vehicle broke through250million in2013, the vehicle insurance industry hasgained a great opportunity of development. At the same time, the margin of vehicleinsurance company has continued to fall due to vicious competition, growth of trafficaccident, etc. This thesis takes OBD as the research object and studies the constitutionof OBD, relevant protocol and it’s application in vehicle insurance industry.Firstly, the relevant protocols of OBD are collected and learned. Then SAE J1939,IS015765and ISO27145are taken as the research emphasis, and the rules of theirphysical layer, datalink layer, network layer and application Layer are studied.Secondly, the thesis designs the framework of the application of OBD in vehicleinsurance industry and confirm the indicators of collected data, namely risk factors,based on the information of OBD and relevant datum. We complete the software andhardware design and production of on-board information collection terminal adoptingFreescale32-bit MCU as main controller, TL718as parse chip of diagnostic data,integrated with GPS module, wireless communication module, Bluetooth module and soon, and employing uC/OS-II as the operating system in the controller.Finally, the thesis designs the Principal Component Analysis based on the indexsignificant priority using the the significant priority of risk factors gained by applyingAnalytic Hierarchy Process. Using this method write programs in MATLAB, thedimensionality reduction of the data of risk factors is accomplished and the pricingfactors are obtained which are needed in calculation of insurance cost and provide adifferentiated premium computing method which is more accurate for vehicle insuranceindustry.
