With the improvement of the motor vehicle traffic load, there exists a lot of traffic problems on the roundabout like:high frequency of traffic accidents, poor traffic efficiency, difficulties in passing roads for pedestrians and non-motorized and so on. Digging and playing the roundabouts as a means of traffic facilities service capabilities are of great importance to cultural preservation and inheritance of a city or region culture.Firstly, from the video record taken from the commanding heights of typical roundabouts, it could be found that the wrong lane choice behavior is universal in our country. Therefore, effectively guiding drivers’choice behavior is really a feasible method of reducing conflicts, regulating vehicle operation order and avoiding traffic accidents on the roundabout.Secondly, by comparing and analyzing the advantages and disadvantages of two common roundabout survey methods about traffic flow, establish a basic-sectional survey method that has low work intensity, high survey accuracy and is easily conducted in projects.Thirdly, using non-optimization methodology, the pre-timed full control method is established based on the non-saturation principle. This method will substantially prevent the test-bed roundabout performance from seriously deteriorating during peak periods. Traffic responsive metering control method is established based on the analysis of the reason for entering congestion. This method will effectively avoid or postpone the deadlock moment. Traffic responsive full control method is established based on the utilization of access time and space resource. Both single-approach-entering and multi-approach-entering operation method can fully satisfy a large range of the motor vehicle traffic load level. But the latter has more advantages under the same conditions.
